Course Description

International arbitration has become the predominant method of resolving cross-border business disputes. These disputes often have high stakes and involve parties from diverse legal backgrounds and cultures. This seminar commences with the basic principles of international arbitration, such as consent of the parties. It then examines arbitration proceedings, from the constitution of the tribunal to applicable rules of arbitral procedure. We will also explore how international arbitration intersects with domestic law and fits within the broader international system, including the distinct features of arbitration against foreign states.
