Course Description

Key figures on the modern Supreme Court will be the focus of this seminar. We will consider selected justices—their background before coming to the Court, their major decisions, their jurisprudence, their interaction with other justices, their legacy. We will take stock of these justices both through their own writings and through the views of commentators, including judicial biographers. During the semester, the seminar will pay a visit to the Supreme Court.
