Fair Employment Policy

The University of Virginia School of Law is committed to a policy against discrimination on the basis of age, color, disability, gender identity, marital status, national or ethnic origin, political affiliation, race, religion, sex (including pregnancy), sexual orientation, veteran status, or family medical or genetic information. By using the facilities or services of the Office of Private Practice, the Public Service Center, or the Office of Judicial Clerkships (collectively, “recruitment activities”), prospective employers are providing assurance of their commitment to observe the principles of equal opportunity stated above. Complaints that employers engaging in recruitment activities have failed to comply with this Law School policy will be investigated and, where deemed appropriate, sanctions, such as censure or exclusion, may be imposed. Due to the threat of the withdrawal of federal funds pursuant to the Solomon Amendment, the portion of this policy applicable to gender identity will not be applied to military recruiters.
