Rob C. Masri '96 teaches the Entrepreneurial Law Clinic and co-teaches Legal Practice and the Startup Company: An Inside Look and Law and Finance of Venture Capital-Backed Firms. Masri is an attorney and entrepreneur with extensive legal and business experience. He started several businesses, including Cardagin Networks Inc., a mobile marketing company that helps businesses build loyalty and customer rewards programs. Masri raised more than $5 million in financing for Cardagin and was featured in the Financial Times Inc. Magazine and C-Net as a market leader and mobile loyalty pioneer.
Prior to founding Cardagin, Masri served as the chief development officer for the University of Virginia Law School Foundation during the Law School’s $150 million capital campaign. Prior to joining the Law School Foundation, Masri was executive vice president of corporate development and general counsel of Multicity Inc. and a corporate and securities attorney with Cooley and Hunton & Williams.
Currently, Masri is of counsel to Woods Rogers, advising companies in all phases of the lifecycle, from startup to market fit, to pre-venture guidance, IP protection, scale, maturity and exit strategy.
Masri is also an adviser to two mobile technology companies: Moonlighting, a mobile marketplace for freelance entrepreneurs which has raised more than $5 million and X Mode, a leader in social and mobile mapping, which has raised nearly $2 million in financing.
Masri received a J.D. from the Law School in 1996 and is a frequent speaker on entrepreneurship. He resides in Charlottesville with his wife, Natalie, and their three children, Mira, Felix and Xavier.
