Imprisoned Justice: Inside Two Georgia Immigrant Detention Centers

Project South's recently published report Imprisoned Justice exposes numerous human rights violations in two of the largest immigration detention facilities in the United States. Azadeh Shahshahani, legal and advocacy director of Project South, former president of the National Lawyers Guild (NLG), and former director of the National Security/Immigrants' Rights Project for the ACLU of Georgia will be speaking about the report. Brandon Garrett Chair Lecture, "End of its Rope: What Explains the Decline in American Death Sentences?"

Professor Brandon Garrett will deliver a chair lecture on his new book "End of its Rope," to mark his appointment as the White Burkett Miller Professor of Law and Public Affairs.

"End of its Rope" describes analysis of hand-collected national data on death sentences from 1990 to 2016. This presentation will describe implications of the death penalty decline for efforts to reform criminal justice more broadly.
