Protecting Federal Lands in the Trump Era

Wednesday, April 18, 11:00 AM - 1:30 PM

Under the Trump Administration, the Department of Interior has threatened to open protected federal lands nationwide to mineral development. Brenda Mallory, former general counsel to the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ), and Marna McDermott, former deputy general counsel to CEQ, will explore ways that the Federal Land Policy and Management Act (FLPMA) can be used to protect federal lands from unlawful development. This panel discussion will help conservation law practitioners and students understand FLPMA's application to protecting federal lands, and will focus on lands in the Grand Canyon, the Desert Renewable Energy Conservation Plan and Methow Valley. Lunch will be served.
