Judge J. Harvie Wilkinson III '72 on His Book "All Falling Faiths"

Tuesday, April 17, 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM

Lunch will be served. Judge J. Harvie Wilkinson III '72 of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit will discuss his book "All Falling Faiths: Reflections on the Promise and Failure of the 1960s." In the book, Wilkinson shares what life was like in the 1960s, and describes the influence that decade has today. He asks his own generation to recognize its youthful mistakes and pleads with future generations not to repeat them. Wilkinson was appointed to the court in 1984 after serving as a UVA Law professor, U.S. deputy assistant attorney general, editorial page editor of The Virginian-Pilot and clerk for U.S. Supreme Court Justice Lewis Powell. He served as the circuit's chief judge from 1996-2003. In 2004, UVA awarded Wilkinson the Thomas Jefferson Foundation Medal in Law, its highest external honor.
