How to Apply for Alternative Private Loans
Some lenders offer alternative private student loans. Rates and conditions vary, so it is wise to carefully review a variety of lending options. Please contact the lender of your choice for instructions about applying. The University will certify the loan once all other financial aid has been completed. The UVA Law School requires that all borrows requesting a private loan complete a private loan counseling session with a financial aid officer. The University can only certify loans for the total cost of attendance for the current academic year. Contact the Law School Financial Aid Office to schedule a private loan counseling appointment.
Submitting Other Documents Required for Financial Aid Processing
Please consult your SIS “To Do List” for other documents that may be required by the Financial Aid Office to process your financial aid. Students selected for verification by the Department of Education will see a requirement to provide necessary documentation in the SIS “To Do List.” Common items that may be required include proof of citizenship, a copy of your Alien Registration Card, verification of social security number and computer purchase documentation. All required documents should be submitted to the Law School Office of Financial Aid. Documents can be faxed directly via a secure fax machine, at 434-924-7641. Please do not submit documents unless requested.
If You Receive Outside Scholarship Assistance
Any student who receives financial assistance from any source outside of the University of Virginia School of Law must advise the Financial Aid Office of the amounts and types of assistance received. Your financial aid award may be adjusted to reflect any outside assistance. Please send an e-mail to email@example.com.
